As the 2016 Rio Olympics women's soccer semifinal match between Brazil and Sweden fired up on Tuesday at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Sweden women's soccer team's sound strategy paid off again, and Sweden is heading to the Olympics gold medal game for the first time ever.

After Sweden holding Brazil for a 0-0 draw, the Swedish won on penalties 4-3. The Swedish midfielder Lisa Dahlkvist scored the decisive penalty for the second straight game, according to NBC.

While Dahlkvist was on for the penalty kick, she just pretended all those Brazilians were cheering for her team, and then she stepped up and nailed down her penalty kick to eliminate Brazil and proceed to the Olympic soccer final.

Sweden and Brazil have met in the group stage, with Brazil made the 5-1 victory. But, Sweden's strategy this time was expected with a more defensive tactic. The kind of gameplay that caused the American soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo to refer to the Swedes as cowards, Sports Illustrated reported.

However, in spite of the fact that women's soccer has not traditionally been famous in Brazil, the Brazilian women's soccer team was one step away from the Olympic gold.

The Brazilian forward Marta Vieira da Silva and her teammates have captured hearts as they've traveled across the country on the way to a semifinal match against Sweden.

Some Brazilian fans have even removed Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior's (Neymar) name on their No. 10 jerseys and replaced it with Marta's, based on the report of Mass Live.

The head coach of the Brazil women's national football team - Oswaldo Fumeiro Alvarez (commonly known as Vadão), stated that they are aware of the pressures. The result of the major tournament should have to be a gold medal, for the reason that's a need for women's football.
