It's been 10 years since Matt Damon's Jason Bourne abandoned the agency that taught him to become a deadly weapon. But the film's latest sequel raked in $60 million in its opening weekend.

"Jason Bourne," which is an American spy thriller film, is the second highest opening of the Bourne film series, behind "The Bourne Ultimatum" in 2007, based on the report of Daily Mail.

The latest of the Bourne series, which is directed by Paul Greengrass, also earned a healthy $50 million around the globe, adding up to an awe-inspiring $110 million global take.

Aside from Damon, the action packed movie also stars Tommy Lee Jones (U.S. Marshal), Alicia Vikander (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Vincent Cassel (Irréversible), Julia Stiles (Out of the Dark) and Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

While the science fiction action film - Star Trek Beyond, got the number 2 spot with $24 million in its second weekend.

According to CinemaScore, a market research firm that surveys film audiences to rate their viewing experiences, "Jason Bourne" appears poised for a healthy opening night with an audience grade of A-.

60 percent of the Bourne film audiences were over 35 years old, and the main reason these attendees witnessed the movie was their affection for the "Bourne" franchise. That indicates that the spy character remains resonant even the long absence of Damon from the role, according to The Wall Street Journal.

However, Damon stated that it never occurred to him that he didn't have a lot of dialogues. Damon also said that for any aspiring young actor, they should know that it's not the number of lines they have in the film that matters, 9 News reported.

Anyway, "The Secret Life Of Pets" still captivated people of all ages, as the film comes in fourth with $18.2 million in its fourth week.
