StartEd Companies, Inc., a public-benefit corporation and NYU Steinhardt will be working together in a bid to fortify the education innovation ecosystem and offer programming in the fields of education technologies and education entrepreneurship.

The focal point of this join effort will be an Incubator and an an EdTech Accelerator on New York University's Washington Square campus.

NYU Steinhardt - StartEd Incubator

The partnership will encompass an Incubator for Edtech companies accommodated in a momentous NYU Steinhardt building nearby Washington Square Park in the center of Greenwich Village. Edtech companies can team up with the NYU Steinhardt community and work alongside NYU students and faculty in an open-creative surrounding.

NYU Steinhardt Edtech Accelerator powered by StartEd

The NYU Steinhardt Edtech Accelerator powered by StartEd is now accepting applications for the October 2016 class from ingenious startups focusing on technology solutions in order to boost education and learning - throughout all stages from birth through lifelong learning. The 10 companies picked for the program will be eligible to receive up to $170,000 in funding, according to a post on NYU Steinhardt official website.

The comprehensive three-month mentor-guided Accelerator program, concentrating on education entrepreneurship, is slated to run from October 2 to December 21, 2016.

The program offers an array of resources including business development, sales consulting, development expertise, legal services, coaching and mentor ship.

It is designed to facilitate acceleration of companies run by Edtech entrepreneurs, culminating in a Demo Day where firms will demonstrate in front of an exceptional network of angel and venture capital investors, EdTech Review reported.

Dominic J. Brewer, Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of NYU Steinhardt noted that NYU Steinhardt, the first ever school of Pedagogy in the U.S., has actively engaged in 125 years of innovation in education, specifically in the New York city. The institute considers the EdTech Incubator and Accelerator as a natural development of that continuous commitment.

This collaboration with StartEd makes it possible for the students and faculty staff of NYU Steinhardt to get in touch with emerging companies from around the globe, along with some of the nation's most successful Edtech entrepreneurs.

The StartEd-powered NYU Steinhardt Edtech Accelerator will offer edtech start-ups access to the industry's most influential network of acclaimed leaders in the education and technology space.

CEOs and founders of successful edtech startups, angel investors and active edtech venture capitalists; leaders of the largest educational publishers; functional specialists and technology enablers representing the largest tech firms and education policy experts will serve as mentors and advisers.

According to Jonathan Harber, CEO of SchoolNet and former CEO of Pearson K-12 Technology, Edtech startups have the ability to solve some of the biggest challenges in global education. Moreover, taking into consideration that it hosts the largest K-12 school system in the nation, Harber said, "New York is the perfect hub for Edtech."

StartEd and NYU Steinhardt will soon divulge the dates for NY Edtech Week, an extensive conference slated to be held in December this year.
