The second generation of Microsoft Surface Book will likely be launched next year as the tech giant plans to give some upgrades on the specs.

The Surface Book 2 might come with powerful hardware and software, but to have such upgrades; fans should wait for next year for the release.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 Specs

Surface Book 2 specs are obviously much higher than the previous Surface Book with upcoming Intel Kaby Lake processor and 4K resolution. It will have much better graphics. Not to forget, the 'iconic' hinge to detach keyboard. With increased resolution and better graphics, Surface Book 2 specs are expected to be supported by bigger power, probably up to 8 hour.

Microsoft's patent suggests a new stylus pen with rechargeable feature built-in the drawing tool, Tech Radar reported. This could also hint to the new feature included in Microsoft Surface Book 2 specs. The graphics card might use Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M or alternatively a faster one, GeForce GTX 980.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date

Previously, the suggested device name was Microsoft Surface Book 2016 but Microsoft seems so quiet about the speculation. A new information cited from The Verge said that Microsoft Surface Book 2 could be released next year.

Surface Book 2 is still waiting for Intel Kaby Lake and Redstone 2?

Surface Book 2 release date will be early next year as the Redstone 2 (RS2) will also be launched in 2017. Rumor has it that the Windows 10 device will be enhanced with RS2. This means that Surface Book 2 release date will have same schedule with Surface Phone - the new Microsoft smartphone equipped with Redstone 2 features.

Credible sources claim that once the advanced features are set, Microsoft could ship Surface Book 2 in March next year with production process starts this year. Surface Pro 5 price also drops recently - hinting on a new product coming soon.
