The much-awaited Google Nexus 2016 is rumored to come with the imminent Android Nougat operating system. Google recently divulged the official name of the new Android OS, although rumor mills have swirled a slew of speculations around it for a long time.

Along with this speculation, leaked details about one of the Nexus smartphones' specs have also surfaced online recently.

Specifications for Sailfish, the smaller of the two rumored Nexus devices were leaked last month. However, not many details about the larger of the two forthcoming HTC-built Nexus phones dubbed, Marlin were revealed until recently.

Marlin is the larger variant of the Sailfish in Google's Nexus line up, featuring a 5.5-inches screen at 2560 x 1440 resolution.

In addition, Marlin will reportedly be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm processor and will boast a USB-C port, Bluetooth, a 3,450 mAh battery and 4 GB of RAM, Android Police reported.

The device will reportedly pack a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. As far as its cameras are concerned, speculations hint the device will come with a 12 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front snapper for the selfie addicts.

If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, Marlin will feature an AMOLED display and will come in two variants: 32 GB and 12 GB of storage, Ecumenical News reported.

Google had previously collaborated with LG and Huawei for its Nexus lineup, but this time several tech publications have reported that the search engine giant will team up with HTC for the two Nexus devices. This will not be the first time Google and HTC have collaborated, so without-a-doubt it will be interesting to see what changes the revived partnership will bring to the imminent Sailfish and Marlin.

As far as the devices' release dates are concerned, Google has opted to remain mum and has divulged absolutely no details about when will the next Nexus smartphones hit the shelves.

However strong rumors doing rounds hint the devices will debut alongside the Android Nougat operating system.

Google's next OS, Android Nougat is slated to complete its beta testing by the end of this month, which implies both Android Nougat as well as Google Nexus 2016 could debut sometime in August.
