The showrunners of "Game Of Thrones" are planning to end the story in thirteen episodes using shortened seventh and eighth seasons.

David Benioff, the co-creator and showrunner of the award-winning HBO series GOT, stated that it's the seventh and eighth seasons of the show they are talking about. From pretty close to the beginning, they discussed doing the rest of the "Game of Thrones" seasons in 70-75 hours, and that's how they wrap it up, Deadline reported.

In corroborating Benioff's statement, Jack Bender previously said that the production is only doing seven episodes in season 7. Bender added that they can speculate that the current plan is for two shorter seasons of "Game of Thrones" - in which season 7 will consist of 7 episodes, and 6 episodes for season 8, Den Of Geek reported.

Benioff went on saying to tease the ultimate endgame conclusion of "Game Of Thrones," that they are trying to emphasize one cohesive story with a beginning, middle and an end.

The American author and screenwriter - Dan Weiss, stated that they have known the end of the drama series for quite some time and they are moving at a fast pace towards it. And Weiss added that Daenerys will return to Westeros, Cersei is sitting on the Iron Throne and  Jon Snow is king of the North.

One of the most surprising twists of GOT's season finale was also gently pulled out by Benioff and Weiss, in which - while Cersei was named the new ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, Cersei barely made a reaction when she saw that her last child, Tommen had intentionally taken his own life.

Weiss made it clear to everybody that's what the next season is going to be about, finding out the mindset of Cersei, Crave Online reported.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is slated to kick off the production next month and HBO is expected to formally renew the drama series for an eighth and final season.
