Fans of the late singer would be truly delighted to know of the University of Minnesota's generosity by bestowing an honorary doctorate degree to beloved late singer Prince.

Though unable to attend college back in the day, the school is posthumously awarding a Doctor of Humane Letters degree to the Minnesota native and "When The Doves Cry" artist-singer, Time reported. In reference to a post on the University of Minnesota website, the award is in recognition of Prince's surreal artistic talents.

The late singer was also considered an epitome of remarkable contributions even beyond the limelight. Prince's charitable acts extended beyond his music through support for local music, social and political works, and his profound influence over gender equality and identity.

University of Minnesota president Eric Kaler said that the school is extremely proud of the late singer's multi-achievements, and sees it as a legacy that the state hopes to continue, according to USA Today. Michael Kim, the university's School of Music director, also added on Prince's talents on being able to shed light to the world on what it meant to be a Minnesotan.

Prince's known sibling, Tyka Nelson, would be one of the late singer's surviving family members to accept the award which is set to be given later this year. Besides Ms. Nelson, several other people have come forward to express not only their grief, but also regarding paternity claims.

Issues concerning paternity have risen post-Prince's death. However, DNA tests were ordered by a probate court to verify the accuracy of these claims.

W Magazine recently posted a YouTube video (which has amassed more than 100K views over the week) as a loving tribute to what could have been Prince's 58th birthday this year. Famous celebrities like Game of Thrones' own Kit Harrington, Chris Evans, Rami Malek, and many more are seen citing their favorite lyrics from some of the late singer's popular songs.
