The Louisiana State University Tigers lost to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers with 11-8. It is LSU's first loss in the opening game of the Super Regional since 2008.

The Tigers are now eliminated from the NCAA Baseball tournament due to the Coastal Carolina's walk-off 4-3 victory over the Tigers, the New Orleans, LA Local News reported.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are set to participate in the College World Series in Omaha.

Both coaches, Paul Mainieri of LSU, and Gary Gilmore of Coastal Carolina, have started their best pitchers, with Alex Lange of LSU and Andrew Beckwith of Coastal Carolina.

Both pitchers are right handed, and had a strong start. Although Lange's only mistake at the early stages of the game gave the Chanticleers an early lead with G.K. Young's run for Coastal Carolina during the second inning, according to USA Today.

Lange's pitch was deposited in the left field stands, which allowed Young make a five-hole hitter for his team.

The LSU pitcher had regained composure and maintained an accurate pitch for the first four innings. The Lange made use of curveballs with high frequency, maintaining a consistent pitch.

Analysts stated that Lange's demise was probably due to the Tigers' lengthy at-bat towards the end of the fourth inning had made the pitcher lose his rhythm.

The LSU pitcher suffered two walks, and gave up four runs. Coastal Carolina then proceeded to extend its lead to 6-4. LSU had managed to catch up by the ninth inning, but a costly mistake allowed Anthony Marks of Coastal Carolina to walk to the first base, and ultimately resulted to a run that beat the Tigers.

Coastal Carolina's win over the LSU means that they are through to the CWS, and this would be the Chanticleers second win over the LSU home in nine attempts, according to the NCAA.
