Bringing down the curtain on a twelve-month long fundraiser for Anna's House Foundation, students at Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center conducted Iguana Week in May.

In a bid to raise money for the foster care organization in Luther, the school's Iguana Council organized several activities including washing cars, selling baked goods, getting hypnotized, and playing bubble soccer - all this and more while enjoying snow cones made by Trailer Trash Treatz.

According to Emily Giddeon, a Student Recruitment Coordinator who serves as Iguana Council adviser, students opted for Anna's House Foundation as their charity at the beginning of the school year and then organized a slew of events split across the year to raise funds.

Giddeon confirmed that students raised a whopping $3,000 for Anna's House Foundation, NewsOK reported.

Aside from helping students see the significance of community service, the Iguana Week also helps organizations that work for residents of Oklahoma without deviation.

In their effort to make leadership opportunities available for EOC students, organizers Emily Gideon and Mitchell Thomas initiated the aforesaid event. The motivation of the event is to make a difference, and it's theme is "i-guana make a difference," students are realizing the difference they can make in their communities.

In order to form an Iguana Council that will help in planning, student representatives are picked from every program area. In April, student actively line up events for one week's activities including a visit by Big Truck Tacos, a student volleyball tournament, car wash.

But that's not all, besides the aforementioned activities, a community family carnival is held on Friday evening, EOCTech reported.

Aside from Anna's House Foundation, the Iguana Council have picked the organizations that are mentioned below as the beneficiaries of the capital raised:

2015 - Colter's Toybox
2014 - Genesis Project
2013 - Ally's House

Anna's House Foundation is selected as 2016's recipient of the funds accumulated.

According to Gideon, this is all about setting a good example for students while teaching them about giving back to the community.
