Looks like a bad news for "Final Fantasy" fans! The release date of the highly-anticipated action role-playing game dubbed, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is revealed after all; hinting the game's huge fan base is in for a really long wait.

Strong rumors doing rounds indicated, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will hit the shelves in the third quarter of 2017, Ecumenical News reported.

The game remake will reportedly debut in September 2014 as this time slot is at par with the launch time slot for "Final Fantasy XV," which is slated to debut on September 30.

Despite strong rumors hinting 2017 to be the time for the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" to debut, developer Square Enix may actually take the wraps off the title a year later in 2018. This move is to pave the way for "Kingdom Hearts 3." In fact, Square Enix is treating the game as a priority over the remake in 2017, simply because the game was divulged before the remake, and more importantly, fans have been looking forward to this game for three long years, Christian Today reported.

Also debuting for PS4 in North American as well as European shores next year is "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age." According to a post on PlayStation Blog, players can anticipate an array of leading advancements upon their return to Ivalice, including a revamped battle design and reconstructed job system. The recently-added gameplay features include Trial Mode and The Zodiac Job System - making an appearance for the very first time.

"Final Fantasy VII Remake" will be divided into episodic form, and each episode will be as large as a full PlayStation game. According to previous reports, the split will mirror the "Final Fantasy XIII" trinity that was divided into three titles. This indicates "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will feature multiple episodes supplemented as downloadable content packs.

The official trailer of "Final Fantasy VII Remake" exhibits alterations to combat and exploration, however complete specifics about the title's new mechanics and what the developer may have alternated or retained is yet to be divulged.

Until then, it seems prudent to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
