The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) notified the UFC that Frank Mir may be suspended for allegedly failing a drug test. The test happened on the night before his March 20 UFC Fight Night in Brisbane, Australia. Mir was told by the agency that the collected sample tested positive for a banned substance -- anabolic-androgenic steroid.

The former heavyweight champion denied using the drug. According to MMA Junkie, the heavyweight is on a provisional suspension. This means that Mir will temporarily be locked out of any UFC-related activities including being an MMA analyst for FOX this weekend.

However, if another sample collected from him will test positive for the banned anabolic steroid metabolites, he says he will be retiring. Mir explained the situation during his Phone Booth Fighting podcast. If his "B" samples come back positive for the same banned steroid substance, Mir will be retiring. He explained on his podcast that he wanted to become a police officer or afire fighter.

"Two-year suspension. And I was supposed to do FOX, the pre-fight and post-fight show this weekend," Mir said on his podcast. "I got the phone call letting me know that, as long as I'm suspended, I can't commentate or do any kind of work in that aspect. Basically now, for the next two years."

ESPN reports that Mir used to go on testosterone-replacement therapies but stopped when the treatment was banned since 2014. The potential anti-doping violation last month was the former champion's first failed test in his fighting career. Mir posted a length statement about the failed USADA test on his Twitter account.
