National Signing Day got its first major commitment flip, as wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland backed out of his pledge to Houston in favor of Florida.

Cleveland is 247 Sports' second-overall wide receiver in the 2016 class and ranks 33rd overall on its national composite list. The commitment gives Florida head coach Jim McElwain his fifth four-star wide receiver in the incoming class.

ESPN pointed out McElwain has made it a point to recruit wide receivers in the 2016 class, and they will be arriving on campus alongside four-star QB recruit Feleipe Franks. Cleveland chose Florida after visiting Gainesville this past weekend, capping a road trip that also included TCU and Arkansas.

Cleveland spent a lot of time living in Jacksonville, but 247 Sports noted it was the notion of playing in the SEC that swayed him to his flip. He initially committed to Texas A&M, but switched to Houston to play closer to home.

Despite playing in the American Athletic Conference, Houston has managed to recruit three ESPN 300 prospects, ranking among the 40 best incoming classes.

Cleveland announced his decision at a ceremony at his high school.

"I had to do what's best for me," he said. "Ultimately, I always wanted to be a Gator."
