Han Hyo Joo, a South Korean actress, has said that she just graduated from a Buddhist university program. She also said that she is still Catholic and that she took the classes because she was interested in them.

On February 28, Han appeared on the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun with actresses Han Ji Min and Park Bo Young. That's when the news came out. The three stars talked openly in the video "Getting Coupons is Just an Excuse."

AllKpop says that Han Hyo Joo talked about the subject carefully during the broadcast.

Han seemed unsure about making the news public before she spoke. She said, "I'm not sure if I should say this, but coincidentally, I graduated from Buddhist University on my birthday, February 22,"

Han Ji Min added information about her friend's studies to make the timeline clearer.

Han Ji Min said, "She's currently attending Buddhist University," Han Hyo Joo then talked about why she was doing it and her religious background.

"I'm originally Catholic. I did not change my religion. I just wanted to study it a little. It was about a six-month program," she said.

She went into more detail about the course structure and what it would cover.

"We studied Buddhist theory. Classes were once a week online. There were no exams. It was more like studying the mind. The graduation ceremony is also online. I am planning to buy a bouquet for myself," Han Hyo Joo said.

KBIZoom's report brought out more details, including the fact that Han's interest in Buddhism was partly shaped by the people around her.

Han Ji Min talked more about a spiritual program she had been a part of before. Venerable Pomnyun leads a program called the Enlightenment Retreat.

"There is a program called the Enlightenment Retreat led by Venerable Pomnyun. I joined it in 2009 because of writer Noh Hee Kyung and recommended it to Hyo Joo. She went further and even attended Buddhist University. It was impressive. She practiced meditation and the 108 prostrations diligently."

People were interested in the news online because Han Hyo Joo is a well-known Catholic. She did, however, stress that her involvement in the Buddhist program was only for academic and reflective reasons, not to convert to Buddhism.

The actress is preparing for her upcoming projects, and her candid remarks about faith and personal growth have resonated deeply with her fans.
