The University of Michigan secured $886 million in gifts and commitments during the 2025 fiscal year, marking the second-highest fundraising total in the school's history.

The record underscores the university's continued ability to attract major philanthropic support from alumni, corporations, and foundations, despite a competitive higher education giving landscape.

According to school officials, contributions came from more than 120,000 donors, with a significant portion directed toward student scholarships, faculty support, research initiatives, and campus infrastructure.

"Philanthropy continues to transform the University of Michigan and expand opportunities for our students and faculty," said Tom Baird, vice president for development, in a statement. "These resources help us sustain world-class teaching, groundbreaking research, and public service."

The university's all-time fundraising record was set in 2018, when it raised $914 million, bolstered by the final year of the Victors for Michigan campaign. That initiative ultimately generated more than $5 billion for the school.

The latest fundraising total reflects strong donor confidence as Michigan moves forward with strategic priorities such as affordability, sustainability, and technological innovation.

The university has not announced whether another major capital campaign is in the works, but officials said the continued support demonstrates the long-term commitment of the Michigan community.
