English is a class that is required of all high schoolers and even college students. Being good in the subject can set you up for success in life. The problem is that it can be hard to grasp if you're not good at it or if it's not your first language.

1. Read Every Day 

The best way to pass all of your ESL classes is to read all the assignments. If there is no reading assignment for the day spend 20 minutes or so reading one of your own books. 

Doing this will increase your vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Over time you'll get faster with reading and have an easier time with your class assignments. 

2. It's Okay to Ask for Help 

If you have other classmates who are picking up on things faster than you, it's okay to ask them for help on assignments. See if one of them would mind reading over your papers before you turn them in. 

You could also form a study group with other students. It will make the subject more fun to study, you'll create a support team, and you may learn how to take better notes from looking at a fellow student's notebook. 

3. Cramming Never Helped Anyone

No matter how stressed you are about a test, don't try and cram the information in your head the night before. That will do way more harm than good. All cramming does is provide you with short term information. 

You won't retain much of what you study. This is especially true if you give up sleep to cram. You won't be going into your English test at your best. 

4. Start All Your Essays Early as Possible 

If you know that you struggle a bit with writing essays then you'll want to start your assignments as soon as you can. This will give you as much time as you need to squeeze out a quality product. 

Also, the first paragraph is usually the part of the essay a lot of students struggle to get through. If you start working on the assignment the day you get it, you'll be less likely to procrastinate. 

5. Don't Be Afraid of Asking Questions 

You probably heard your teachers in school say "there is no such thing as a dumb question" quite a bit. This is because it's true. It's better to ask questions than to get behind. 

Don't be afraid to prepare a series of questions before class starts and ask them before your instructor jumps into the new material.
