The Legacy of Chris Cornelll: The Film ‘The Promise’ And His Refugee Advocacy [VIDEO]

Many loved Chris Cornell for his way of helping out others through his music. For one, the singer wrote and recorded the track for the film "The Promise". He planned to use the proceeds to help those who are in need.

In light of Cornell's recent passing, a number of celebrities have recorded a new video pledging to keep up the singer's advocacy. Among those included in the video are Josh Brolin and Serj Tankian. Elton John, Cher, Pharrell Williams, Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Tom Hanks, Ryan Gosling, and Oscar Isaac were also featured.

According to Loudwire, Cornell said before that "The Promise" is mainly about paying homage to those who died in the Armenian Genocide. Sadly, the phrase "never again" failed to carry on to the 20th century. Cornell believed that musicians, actors, and all of the influential people should keep reminding the public about the tragedy and how to avoid it in today's world.

Per the singer, educating one another about the past is the best way to understand the present and prevent future atrocities. Aside from that, unity is very important. As citizens of the world, Cornell wants everybody to work to protect each one's human rights.

In April, Cornell and his family went to refugee camps in Greece. Some of the major problems they have witnessed are health care and human trafficking.

Cornell was 52 years old when he was found dead in his Detroit hotel room last month, Arm Radio reported. A medical examiner noted that the cause of death was suicide by hanging. He is survived by wife Vick and their kids Toni, 12, and Christopher, 11. Cornell also has one daughter, Lillian, 17, from his previous marriage to Susan Silver.

Additional reports claim that Cornell "always wanted" the video to be released on World Refugee Day. All of the proceeds are going be donated to charitable organizations. "The Promise" may mean different things like supporting refugees, ending racism, or fighting genocide all over the world. The producer said the Cornell was very much a part of the process.
