Apple's iMac line is due for an overhaul, and the tech giant has already revealed plans to roll out new iMac models aimed at power users and professionals later this year. Apple's Marketing Head and Senior VP of software engineering, Craig Federighi, had confirmed that work on updating the iMac line is progressing.

Nearly after two years of silence, the Cupertino based tech company is reviving its iMac lineup. The tech giant has announced the rebirth of its powerful all-in-one desktop computer, and is set to unveil the devices sometime this year.

Apple's Marketing Head and Senior VP of software engineering made it known that work is moving forward on updating the iMac line. The iMac 2017 lineup is said to come along with higher spec components to meet the demands of users and professionals who are looking for a high-performance all-in-one desktop, Mobi Picker reported.

Nonetheless, the upcoming new iMac 2017 is expected to arrive with a powerful Intel Xeon processor chip. Tech fans and experts are also expecting Apple's iMac 2017 to feature a 16GB to 64GB of ECC RAM as well as AMD graphics. Apple's highly anticipated desktop computer will reportedly feature a Thunderbolt 3 via 2TB SSD and a USB-C, Blasting News reported.

The supply chain of Apple hinted at two new iMac updates, the 21.5-inch iMac variant and a 27-inch iMac model. Unfortunately, there are no words regarding the price of the iMac 2017. But, it would be safe to expect the upcoming devices to fall in line with previous price points of the current iMacs.

Furthermore, a possible timeframe for the release of the iMac 2017 models could be on July. Nevertheless, following the previous roll out schedule of the current iMac, there's also a possibility for a September or October launch. Wherein, the latest version of the iMac rolled out in October 2015.
