‘Pokémon Stars’ Reportedly Has 20 New Pokémon Additions; Fans Worry About The Nintendo Switch-Exclusive Deal

By

"Pokémon Stars," the codename of a new Pokemon game is reportedly coming to the Nintendo Switch in September and fans are worried if it will be an exclusive deal. Moreover, renowned video game writer Laura Dale confirmed in a Reddit AMA that there are 20 new Pokémon added to the roster of "Pokémon Stars," which is actually a graphically-enhanced combination of the "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" games.

Pokémon fans are holding on to the words of the CEO of the Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara that a Pokémon game will definitely come to the Nintendo Switch. All Nintendo consoles except the latest release had a Pokémon game, which strongly suggests that the Switch will inevitably have one too. The only question is whether the rumored "Pokémon Stars" will be a Switch-exclusive. Such a proposition does not sit well with fans who hoped to access every Pokémon creature on various platforms.

It may also be possible that Ishihara may also be hinting of a different and even bigger Pokémon game other than the "Pokémon Stars." The CEO said that they will have to do things differently for the Nintendo Switch which is a hybrid console able to play as a home gaming machine and a handheld device as well. The new console has a slightly bigger display and higher specs, which are elements that Game Freak, the developer of all Pokémon games all the way back from Game Boy, will have to learn to scale up with its newest Pokémon Game.

Moreover, "Pokémon Stars" may well be in its development to reach its expected September debut as indicated by Dale in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session. Dale said that there are now 20 new Pokémon additions to the "Pokémon Stars" roster, Korea Portal has learned. Incidentally, the video game journalist has also made leaked information about the Switch that has proven to be right. However, the information has not been verified by Niantic yet and may well just be a rumor.

Nonetheless, the "Pokémon Stars" have been making the rounds online as seen in an HD rendering posted on Youtube. Youtuber Blunty shows the new game being played in the Nintendo Switch, which was, of course, had a picture of the console superimposed onto the video. Still, the graphics look interesting although gaming experts say it is more fit for the Nintendo 3DS edition according to Droid Report.
