‘The Originals’ Might Be Renewed for Season 5; Season 4 Adds Drama To Hayley-Elijah Romance
Fans will witness a five-year time jump when "The Originals" returns for its fourth season next month. Viewers are already excited for what Season 4 has to offer while clamoring for a fifth season at the same time.
The CW is yet to renew the series for Season 5, but network president Mark Pedowitz said last month that the show's fate will not be announced until spring, Deadline reported. There are fears that the show's fourth season will be its last given that "The Vampire Diaries," the series' mothership program, is bidding adieu to the small screen soon.
Pedowitz is hoping that "The Originals" will perform well and continue airing on The CW even after "The Vampire Diaries" ends. He stressed that a series renewal or cancellation hasn't been announced simply because Season 4 is yet to air.
Regardless of this, Pedowitz has faith on showrunner Julie Plec, who is expected to have more time handling the spinoff series with "The Vampire Diaries" wrapping up soon.
Details about the upcoming episodes of the spinoff's fourth season have already been released. According to SpoilerTV, there will be plenty of shock factors in episode seven, which will introduce "a new powerful entity" into the mix. Even strong figures like Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) will have a hard time dealing with this powerful individual.
Episodes 10 and 12 will bear the titles "Phantomesque" and "Voodoo Child," respectively. Alaric (Matt Davis) is returning to hand a priceless artifact to Elijah (Daniel Gillies), while his twin daughters are being held captive by a siren, TVLine reported.
Executive producer Michael Narducci said in July that Hope is now a seven-year-old girl who's got "dialogue and hopes and dreams, and she misses her dad [Klaus (Joseph Morgan)] and understands her family has suffered a great loss," according to a separate report from TVLine. It should be noted that Hope is a new type of hybrid, with witch, vampire and wolf blood swimming through her veins. Needless to say, the child is going to be really powerful and she is aware of this.
Hope's mom, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), will face some struggles in Season 4. For years, her personal mission is to save her loved ones and she's doing this by searching for the seven werewolf packs. The upcoming season will also deal with Hayley's romantic connection with Elijah.
Season 4 will air on Friday, March 17 at 8/7c on The CW. What do you think of the upcoming season so far? Share your thoughts below!
