The recently-launched Xiaomi phones are getting Nougat update but what about the older devices? Which handsets will be receiving the software bump?

Android Nougat Update for Xiaomi Phones

The latest Android update news for Xiaomi phones hints at the arrival of the latest firmware on Redmi Note 3. BGR has learned that the handset was spotted on GFXBench.

The famous benchmarking site has listed Redmi Note 3 running on Android Nougat. However, there's something strange with the listing.

For instance, Redmi Note 3 is supposed to be a 5.5-inch handset but the list mentions a 5.7-inch device. Judging from the size, it is safe to assume that the said handset is a Mi Note Pro tablet.

There is no legitimate source to confirm the leak but everything remains to be seen.

More Xiaomi Phones to Get Android Nougat Update

A few handsets that will not likely receive the firmware update include Redmi Note 4G and Mi 3 whereas the Nougat could come soon to Redmi Note 4, Note 3, Mi Note 2, Redmi 4 series, Redmi 3 series and Mi Max, as reported by Android Headlines.

The update will be rolled out via OTA update and users can wait for the notification or check it in Settings.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi will not make any appearance at MWC 2017. Speculations point towards Hugo Barra's departure but that isn't likely the reason. Xiaomi could skip the biggest smartphone exhibition event due to there isn't any new revolutionary handset to be showcased.

The Apple of China could be gearing up for a press event on its own to launch a surprise.
