A recall has been issued for thousands of flat-screen televisions after it was discovered they contain a faulty part that can catch fire and ignite other items, the Associated Press reported.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled nearly 9,000 Coby TVs on Thursday because of an electronic component that can cause a fire. The agency said six incidents of TVs overheating, smoking or catching fire have been reported. One incident involved a TV catching fire and scorching a wall.
No injuries have been reported.
The flat-screens in question include black Coby 32-inch flat screen TVs with the model number TFTV3229 and serial numbers with LG and serial numbers that begin with LG and that have M07 or M10 in the 9th, 10th or 11th space of the serial numbers.
The model and serial numbers are printed on a label on the back of the televisions. For the Coby, it's printed on the front.
According to the AP, because the importer and distributor of the TVs, Coby USA, went out of business, consumers should contact the retailer where the television was purchased. Because of the shutdown, the televisions are being recalled through eight retailers, listed below, that sold the TVs:

* Best Buy, (800) 566-7498 or www.BestBuy.com
