‘Gintama’ Live-Action Film First Teaser Trailer Reveal Gintoki, Shinpachi, And Kagura [Video]

A live-action film of "Gintama" is in the works and its first trailer was released recently featuring three of its main cast, Gintoki Sakata, Shinpachi Shimura, and Kagura to be played by Japanese actors Shun Oguri, Masaki Suda, and Kanna Hashimoto respectively.

The very short trailer teased of a fighting scene wherein the main protagonist ended up having bloodied clothes. The live-action "Gintama" is directed by Yuichi Fukuda, also known for "The Brave Yoshihiko" TV series and the hilarious live-action "Hentai Kamen" films, according to Crunchyroll.

"Gintama," is expected to come to theaters in July, later in the year. Being the franchise's first live-action movie, fans are beginning to get curious how the project fares. The studio, in drumming for support, is teasing fans by releasing poster images of the series' most iconic characters.

For those not familiar with "Gintama," the series debuted in 2004 in Weekly Shonen Jump, which began serializing the manga, and is considered one of the most popular series in Japan, Comic Book reported. The manga was given a full-length anime adaptation that ran from 2006 to 2010 and is said will be given a brand-new breath in a new anime series is currently being aired on TV Tokyo which began on Jan. 9, 2017.

"Gintama" revolves around the story of a samurai and aliens set in a parallel universe in Japan's Edo period. "Gintama" is a science fiction action that also delves on comedic elements that are considered by fans as the heart of what makes the manga and the anime click.

The main protagonist of "Gintama" is Gintoki Sakata, who is a skilled yet lazy samurai and his band of Yorozuya followers, living in a world overrun by unfriendly aliens called Amanto. The series is known primarily as episodic by nature yet had well-received story arcs mainly seeing Gintoki clashing head on with his country's ruling class.
