Heritage University in Washington launched a new website built specifically for students who want to find out more about the college.

The website, HUSoar.com, not only provide prospective students with important information about Heritage University, it also gives them the opportunity to apply for one of the seven newly scholarships offered by the school.

According to a press release from the school, the merit-based scholarships are available to students who want to earn degrees in one of five areas of study: nursing, business, the humanities, education, and the fields of science, technology and mathematics.

"Heritage University Students have the opportunity to learn from world-class professors, right here in the Yakima Valley," Dr. Curt Guaglianone, provost of Heritage University, said in a statement. "Our students learn about the 'real world of work' through participation in career-launching internships with local businesses, developing relationships with industry insiders, and by working in the fields of their choice, throughout the region."

Five of the scholarships are available to new Heritage University students and two will be made available to existing students. The students selected will receive a full-tuition scholarship for the achievement of their undergraduate degree.

Guaglianone said the other real advantage for students who choose to study at Heritage University is small class sizes.

"A Heritage University education is personal, individualized, life changing, and first class!" he said. "One-on-one time with professors, personal contact and interaction with HU President Bassett and other campus administrators, as well as individual tutoring and advising from our first rate faculty and staff, are opportunities that students who choose a larger university, will never experience."

Applications for Heritage Soar Scholarships are due March 3, 2014 at 5 p.m. and will be scored based on four criteria: high school grades, PSAT/SAT or Act Scores, a personal commitment statement, and the strength of a letter of recommendation.
