Redmi 4 Prime Review: 4 Reasons to Stick with Your Redmi 3S Prime

By

Xiaomi is fancy of launching budget Android smartphones including the latest addition in the Redmi family, Redmi 4 Prime.

Redmi 4 Prime has a lot in common with Redmi 3S Prime in terms of internal specs but here's why the older handset is much better.

-          The ergonomic factor

Redmi 4 Prime sports metal unibody with 2.5D curved display, NDTV reported. It is a relatively new device but surprisingly it is thicker by 0.4 mm than 3S Prime. It weighs 156 grams with 141.3 x 69.6 x 8.9 mm dimensions.

The 3S Prime is lighter and sleeker weighing just 144 grams. Although this is a matter of personal preference, but ergonomic factor could play a significant role in the buying decision.

-          The Screen resolution

Redmi 4 Prime and 3S Prime sport IPS LCD display but the latter's screen is slightly larger due to its 71.1 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The 5-inch devices differ in pixel density. While 3S Prime packs 294 ppi, the Redmi 4 Prime has 441 ppi. However, GSM Arena has learned that 3S Prime performance isn't slouchy at all especially when viewed under the sunlight. In fact, the performance is on par albeit Redmi 4's better color accuracy.

-          The innards

As far as the internal hardware is concerned, there are only a few things that Redmi 3S prime is lacking begin Redmi 4 Prime. For instance, the latter is powered by Snapdragon 625 whilst 3S Prime rocks older chip, the 430 series.

However, many user reviews have learned that 3S Prime is good for gaming. It does not show lags when playing high-graphics contents.

The optics, built-in memory and battery capacity in Redmi 4 Prime have the same configurations as the ones found in Redmi 3S Prime. And with that being the case, switching to Redmi 4 Prime can only mean a slight gain in SoC performance and a little bit better display.

-          The price

There is no significant different in the pricing. Hence, for those who plan to upgrade their Redmi 3S Prime to a nicer device, Redmi 4 Prime may not be a suitable choice.
