HTC Vive 2 News: HTC Vive 2 May Debut At CES 2017; Device Reportedly To Feature Twin 4K Displays [VIDEO]

By

The HTC Vive 2 Virtual Reality headset is said to be wireless, and will feature a twin 4K displays. Tech fans might see the HTC Vive 2 headset at CES 2017. Wherein, CES 2017 is scheduled to transpire in Las Vegas from Jan. 5 until Jan. 8.

It's possible that the HTC Vive 2 VR headset will be wireless and will feature a twin 4K displays, but doubtful. Considering the current-generation devices, even powerful PCs have a tough time to keep up with virtual reality technology. Not only the HTC Vive 2 headset to possess 4K displays, but the device will be running at 120Hz rather than the current 90Hz displays. That's 120FPS that a PC will need to be able to pump out in 4K, according to Tech Spot.

Nonetheless, it would certainly be a bold move to introduce a brand new HTC Vive headset at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017, it's more likely that tech fans will end up witnessing some elements of the HTC Vive 2 VR headset behind a second-generation headset, rather than a full blown product launch.

For instance, HTC Vive 2 VR headset will sport a wireless transmitter, making the whole VR experience seamless. Also, with the brief glimpse that tech enthusiasts received of a wireless Oculus Rift at Oculus Connect this year, it appears people could see a wireless or semi-wireless HTC Vive unveiled or teased at the upcoming event, Android Headlines reported.

In spite of that, it's clear that tech fans will see some major VR developments in 2017, and the CES 2017 in particular will likely to play as a host to a number of closed-door demos about the future of virtual reality technology, as well as what's next for companies like Oculus and HTC. But it does seem unlikely that HTC will unveil a full-on HTC Vive 2 VR headset less than a year after the release of its first-generation headset.
