Alien Movies Rated from Best to Worst; What Fans Can Binge Watch Before 'Alien: Covenant'

By

A new "Alien" movie trailer just dropped during the Christmas season. With what can be seen in the trailer, it seems like the film is promising, especially that the original creator Sir Ridley Scott is back to direct it. Now, fans are wondering if this would be a sequel or a prequel to the franchise, and how should they watch the rest of the franchise sequentially leading up to the "Alien Covenant" movie.

Alien Movies Ranked

Katherine Waterson, the star of the upcoming "Alien Covenant," hinted that it would be best to watch "Prometheus" first, and then the original "Alien," Cinemablend reported. Even though "Prometheus" isn't officially confirmed as an instalment in the "Alien" franchise, the references in the movie is quite glaring. This is why some fans speculate that Michael Fassbender, who also stars in "Alien Covenant," may reprise his role as the android David in "Prometheus."

When Ridley Scott first officially announced "Alien Covenant," it was planned to be the first of a three part franchise that would ultimately lead to the first "Alien" movie. This could mean that the new upcoming instalment may have its story take place between the timelines of "Prometheus" and the 1979 "Alien."

"Alien: Covenant" Trailer Review

The movie, which stars Guy Pearce, James Franco, Carmen Ejogo, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, Michael Dassbender, and Katherine Waterson, is set for release on May 19, 2017, Forbes reported.

The trailer shows a crew of a space mission landing on a certain virgin planet. It is revealed later on that they are not alone in the planet as facehuggers started to plant xenomorphs on some of them. "Alien" fans know what's going to happen next, especially with their chests.

However, there is one scene showing a person with his spinal cord protruding, which looks like the xenomorphs could come out of a person's back in this new instalment. There is also one scene where a black goop is about to enter someone's ear and it looks like one of those elements from "Prometheus," which means the fate of that character will definitely be bad.
