Gigabyte vs Razer: Gigabyte’s Aero 14 PC Adopts GEForce GTX 1060 GPU; Updated Laptop Offers Better Gaming Performance

By

Gigabyte announced its upgraded version of Aero 14 Thin Gaming Laptop that will feature NVIDIA's GEForce GTX 1060 GPU. The graphic card is also packed with a 6GB of GDDR5 Memory Chips for better performance and GPU-accelerated workflows.

In order to compete with its direct rival, Razer Blade, the company introduced its Aero 14 laptop's updated graphics processor, GTX 1060 GPU, which offers aggressive performance than its forerunners at the same TPD. Through this, the latest Pascal-based GPU will enhance user experience in gameplay and will use less power for similar performance to the previous generation, AnandTech has learned.

The laptop's internal system is said to remain the same as the initial model introduced back in June, since the company decided to equip the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 already instead of waiting for Intel's Kaby Lake-H CPUs.

Currently, Gigabyte Aero 14 is among the thinnest laptops on the tech market, measuring 19.9 mm thick and weighs around 1.9 kilograms. Outside, the PC comes in aluminum chassis and plastic available in three color options for the display lid: black, green, and orange. Display options for the notebook are limited to an IPS panel with anti-glare coating and 2560×1440 resolution.

As per its internal chassis, the Aero 14 offers a 14-inch QHD display and is packed with 1TB SSD for storage and 32GB of RAM, alongside a 94.24 WHr lithium-ion polymer battery that provides a rated 10-hour battery life, according to GameNGuide.

Like the initial model, the PC is based on the Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor (four cores with Hyper-Threading technology, 2.6/3.5 GHz 6 MB LLC cache, 45 W TDP, dual-channel memory controller, integrated Intel Gen9 graphics core) and the HM170 PCH.

The I/O capabilities of the new Aero 14 also include a USB 3.1 Type C header, 802.1 11Aac Wi-Fi and BT 4.1 wireless module, three USB 3.0 ports, an HD webcam, SD card reader and a TRRS audio connector. Other peripheral accessories are a microphone, built-in 1.5 speakers, mDP display output and an HDMI 2.0.

Amazon currently offers the Aero 14 Wv6-GN4 laptop with the Core i7-6700HQ, GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB, 16 GB of DDR4-2400 memory (one module) and a 512 GB SATA SSD for $1699. On other configurations, the price may be more affordable or expensive.
