'Red Dead Redemption 2' News: Will It Be Ported To PC & Nintendo? Release Date & Rumors Detailed! [VIDEO]

By

It had been a long wait for "Red Dead Redemption" fans when the news of a sequel was first announced. However, the wait is over as gamers can rest assured that there will definitely be a "Red Dead Redemption 2" to hit the stores in the future. In addition, more rumors have circulated regarding details of the game, possible ports to PC and Nintendo, and its release date, according to sources.

Since the success of the first installment released back in May 18, 2010, fans have been waiting for any news of a possible "Red Dead Redemption 2." This year has proven fruitful so far to these dedicated fans as the trailer for the sequel has recently been released, which featured the game in an open-world with what might look to be at a more unforgiving Western roots, The Gamers Drop reported.

Clamor for ports to PC and Nintendo

With the variety of consoles in the market and the inclusion of a wide base of PC-gamers, there has always been a clamor with regard to popular exclusively-released titles being requested to be ported to other different consoles and the PC. It is no different for the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2" as fans of the game have already petitioned for a port of the game to both PC and the upcoming Nintendo Switch, The Gamers Drop learned.

However, it was further stated that possible ports to both PC and Nintendo might be bleak. Although the hype for the upcoming Nintendo Switch might be a good enough reason for the game's developer to entertain the idea of porting "Red Dead Redemption 2," The Gamers Drop revealed that the chances of that are low. According to Wedbush Securities analyst, Michael Pacther, a Nintendo Switch port may never happen.

PC port for a sequel?

As for a PC port of the sequel, there seems to be some mixed reception. On one hand, the game's developer, Rockstar, has already ported one of its critically-acclaimed games, "Grand Theft Auto V," to PC. However, the "Red Dead Redemption" has never had a port to PC since its initial release back in 2010.

Despite this, fans are still eager to learn more about the game. Rumors of the sequel, titled "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West" was supposedly leaked by a former developer via email, Gamerant reported.

Regardless of whether this is true, fans did get to see what might be the "Magnificent Seven" in the official trailer, The Gamer Drops reported. Gamerant also pointed out that the release date for "Red Dead Redemption 2" will supposedly be around 2017.
