"Gears of War 4" is an upcoming game set for release this month. Game publisher Microsoft has included cross buy and cross play support for the Windows 10 PC and Xbox One gaming platforms.

Gears of War Franchise

Microsoft Studios bought the "Gears of War" franchise from Epic Games years ago. The task of developing the fourth installment of the game was assigned to Coalition Studios, and after more than two years in development, "Gears of War 4" is ready for launch. "Gears of War 4" Features

Coalition Studios head Rod Fergusson announced to the press that "Gears of War 4" will have similar features with "Halo 5." One feature included in the game is microtransactions, where players acquire items needed for customizing their characters.

The "Gears of War 4" Season pass will allow players acquire the two dozen DLC maps, private matches as well as the chance to play on prototype maps and experimental game modes. Players with $50 to spare can also get half a dozen gear packs including emblems and skins.

It certain pays to have an Xbox One and Windows 10 PC at the same time. A single "Gears of War 4" copy can allow players to play it on either platform. Any Achievement in the two platforms will be shared, according to Fergusson.

Windows 10 PC and Xbox One players can also play together cooperative campaign mode, cooperation versus bots multiplayer mode and Horde mode. However, the cross play support does not extend to competitive matches between Windows PC and Xbox One players.

The game also allows one host for the multiplayer map which means other players do not need to have the map as long as the host has it
