MacBook Air 2016 Release Date: Confirmed For This Month? Arriving With Retina Display, But Will Oust Kaby Lake Processor [VIDEO]

By

Fresh information centering on the highly anticipated MacBook Air 2016 hint that the laptop will be announced this month, and it will come with Retina display.

Although the MacBook Air has not seen any sort of proper upgrade since early 2015, the latest model did not receive a Retina display, much to the chagrin of avid MacBook fans, but they might soon have something to cheer about.

Amidst countless rumors of the device still doing rounds online, analyst Rhonda Alexander has stated that the Cupertino based tech firm is more likely to take the wraps of a brand new MacBook Air this month.

Alexander believes that the 13.3-inch MacBook Air is currently undergoing a radical overhaul, and also that Apple is indeed launching an unnamed device this month along with a new MacBook Pro, Forbes reported.

According to Alexander the alleged MacBook Air is highly unlikely to be powered by Intel Kaby Lake processor. This is because production for this device kicked off in the second quarter of this year. It will be using Intel Skylake processor instead. Regrettably, as a result of this, the MacBook Air will not be as much beefed up as possible for higher end graphics.

It's no secret that Apple has been focusing more on the powerful graphical capabilities of their devices; however, equipping the MacBook Air with the Skylake processor will quash the device a little bit.

Nevertheless, the alleged laptop will retain an option to use the cutting edge Polaris GPUs from AMD, although neither Apple nor AMD has confirmed this. Nonetheless, if this proved to be true, it will warrant a major graphical upgrade for the MacBook Air without burning a hole in consumers' pockets, according to reports on ChristianToday.

NVIDIA Graphics

For delivering better graphics, Apple's new laptop may feature NVIDIA graphics.

The speculation stems from a recent job vacancy listing by Apple that states the company is currently looking for a new employee for its NVIDA Mac graphics driver team. In other words, Apple has probably entered a deal with NVIDIA to provide graphics to the forthcoming MacBook Pro and Air devices.

However, both NVIDIA and Apple have remained tight lipped about this alleged collaboration.

Another rumored addition to the MacBook Air is the USB Type-C port. It remains to be seen how far the implementation of this will go, and also if it will oust multiple traditional ports on the device, similar to how Apple got rid of the USB Type-C in the new iPhone 7.

Apple has yet to officially confirm if a new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac desktop are indeed in the works and will be unveiled this month. Readers are advised to take these speculations with a huge grain of salt.
