By

Virginia Beach, VA, leads the list of of America's top 10 fittest cities, according to Facebook data. It is followed by Colorado Springs, Austin, San Antonio and Livingston.

"We always associate Colorado Springs with being a healthy and fit city," said Chelsy Murphy, director of communications with the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Murphy said that the city provides a number of recreation opportunities including cycling, rock climbing, summiting Pikes Peak and hiking trails. Plus, there are more than 100 listed fitness centers, clubs and gyms across Colorado Springs such as the Olympic Training Center.

He also said that Colorado Springs is 'so close to the outdoors' when compared to other places in the state, where residents have to travel a bit to get further to streets and sidewalks.

Facebook determined the ranking after following fitness-related comments such as 'lost weight' or 'started a new sport,' updates, gym check-ins and app usage like 'Get Fit with Facebook,' over a period of three months in cities with more than 200,000 registered users.

The world's largest social network also found dominant fitness-related activities in these cities including the most popular places for yoga, CrossFit and biking. According to the data, San Diego has the most marathoners, Grand Rapids for triathletes and Austin residents are pretty obsessed with yoga.
