GoPro Video of A Man 'Joyously' Killing Bear in Alberta Went Viral; Government to Issue Banning The Unacceptable Hunting

By

Josh Bowmar, a former javelin athlete was out for bear-hunting in Edmonton. He tied his GoPro action camera to his spear before throwing the weapon to the targeted bear.

In the video which has been taken down from YouTube, Bowmar showed his activities before and after the spear hit the black bear. According to Edmonton Journal, in a written statement, the officials have addressed their concern regarding this matter - describing the spear use as 'archaic' and 'unacceptable'. The ban for spear hunting will be introduced this fall.

In addition to the banning, the authority has also urged the wildlife agencies to investigate further.

"He's going down, I drilled him perfect," said Bowmar

Bowmar who is also a personal trainer, killed the bear from 12 yards away using a spear of 7-foot long with GoPro camera attached to it. He described each step in details including a statement that said, "I just did something that I don't think anybody in the world has ever done."

Many have condemned his act given that he was not only killing the bear and left it for dead; but also joyously describing his success in spearing the black bear.

Reached out for comment, Bowmar was surprised with the public reactions and the controversial headlines. He said that the act is 'as humane as one could get' in hunting animals, Newser reported.

Jurisdictions may be applied soon in the area

For the record, Alberta does not ban bear baiting but there are several areal restrictions. And since the use of spears in animal hunting is uncommon, there has no strict regulations. Alberta Fish and Game Association president, Wayne Lowry, claims that there will be updates on regulations by the government of Alberta.
