Like several companies at the San Diego Comic Convention 2016, Sega did not let gaming fans down and unveiled a couple of "Sonic the Hedgehog" game titles, both slated to hit the store shelves next year.

"Sonic Mania" Release Date

"Sonic Mania" sets off from the classic renditions of "Sonic the Hedgehog" in 2D. Although the game may seem to resemble the game classic, there are expectedly arrays of enhancements beyond.

That imply gamers will be treated to a slew of brand-new abilities and levels. Just like previous game renditions of "Sonic the Hedgehog," gamers can use "Knuckles,""Sonic" and "Tails" in "Sonic Mania."

It guarantees to reinstate a nostalgic feel although that completely relies on the developers, Pagoda West Games, Christian Whitehead and Headcannon, CinemaBlend reported.

"Sonic Mania" is slated to hit the shelves in the Spring of 2017 with versions for PS4, Xbox One and the PC. It may not be rolled out for the Nintendo NX.

"Project Sonic" Teaser Trailer Revealed

But that wasn't all for Sega as the Japanese video game developer divulged another ambitious project it had in mind - "Project Sonic."

Sega rolled out a teaser trailer for the upcoming game that will reportedly be available for Nintendo NX, in addition to Xbox One and PS4. The game, without question, will feature "Sonic" as the protagonist, GameNGuide reported.

"Sonic" is expected to set sails for new journeys via a world packed with robots trying to dismember the hero.

There is no confirmation from Sega yet and these are mere sneaking suspicions based on the trailer. Those waiting with bated breath for Sonic the Hedgehog's return are advised to take these speculations with a grain of salt.

In other news, British retailer Funstock Retro took the wraps off an updated Sega Mega Drive Classic line in addition to a home console and a handheld, both of which boast 80 pre-installed games, GizMag reported.

The Sega Mega Drive Classic Game console and handheld are slated to hit the store shelves in October. Funstock Retro is currently taking preorders. The home console and handheld will be priced at £49.99 (US$65.55) each.
