YouTube videos have evolved from being purely entertainment to educational. The site has become a platform to get discovered, advertise a business, showcase a skill, and even learn something new. Here are some new skills to learn from a wide range of YouTube videos out there.

New language

Learning a new language for free is not impossible these days. People can download a language app or they can go to YouTube and search for the language they want to learn. They can find useful phrases to complete courses on almost major languages in the world.


People don't need to spend a lot of dollars to get into expensive cooking classes or cook like a pro. World-class chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Anthony Bourdain have YouTube videos where they give instructions how to cook a variety of dishes. They can even learn how to cook authentic dishes from a certain culture.

Buying a computer is, of course, much easier than building one. However, for people who want to learn how to make their own computers, there are detailed step-by-step tutorials how to build a desktop computer including the parts you need in making one.

Home improvement

Those who want to renovate their living room, kitchen or any part of their house can also find different DIY home improvement videos on YouTube. From putting wallpaper, laying tiles on the floor, or putting insulation, YouTube has them. There are even step-by-step guides how to make furniture provided you have the right tools.

Play a musical instrument

Paying a private music teacher can be expensive but YouTube changed all that. Now, there are tons of music tutorial videos on almost any instruments. One guitar prodigy featured at a TED conference said he learned his skills by just watching YouTube videos.
