Before students enter college, a lot of them have romantic ideas what college life is all about based on stories they hear from friends and watch in the movies. However, excitement turns to shock once they entered because reality is different from the image that has been painted in their minds. Here are some of those misconceptions students often have about college.

Professors are scary

A lot of students often have this image of a college professor: old, grumpy men or women with thick glasses who barely smile and whose goal is to make your life hard. It's true that professors have a degree of strictness in them because they want to see their students succeed. However, they also understand how difficult college life is and will do what they can to help students with the challenges they face in college.

You have to party to fit in

Yes, there are parties but no one will force you just to fit in. College is filled with students with diverse interests and you will find like-minded people have the same interests and hobbies as you. So if you don't like to party, that's fine.

It's ok not to attend classes

Those who talk about not attending classes are just telling half of the story. They did not tell you that they almost failed or really did not make it. Although your professors will not nag you about being absent, but you will miss a lot of learning opportunities from your professors. Sooner or later, you'll have to pay the price for it.

College is a magical place

Some students think that college is far different than high school when it comes to life as a student. Soon enough, they soon realize that it is harder and more challenging. However, college also gives you a chance to mature as you become more independent. If you keep the right perspective, it will make you a better person.

Schoolwork is difficult

It's true that schoolwork is more difficult than high school. However, it does not mean that you won't have time to stand up and get away from the books. In fact, you will have more free time than in high school.
