"Pacific Rim 2," also called "Pacific Rim: Uprising," will showcase new main characters fighting the gigantic Kaiju creatures. An official logo was recently unveiled by director Steven S. DeKnight, and it basically confirms that the sequel will also showcase heart-pumping action scenes seen similar to the first film.

DeKnight revealed the official logo of the movie on Instagram. The image didn't come with any plot details but it showcases a blazing strip of fire between the words 'Pacific' and 'Rim,' seemingly hinting that the follow-up film will not come up short when it comes to delivering action and spectacular fights between Jaegers and the Kaiju. A brand new poster for "Pacific Rim: Uprising" was also unveiled earlier this month. The image (courtesy of License Global Magazine) showcased three Jaeger robots in different colors -- blue, orange-red and one with a grayish green tint.

The Jaegers seem to be more high-tech than the ones featured in the original film. That makes sense, given that the sequel takes place several years after the events of the first movie. Check out the three Jaegers here.

There's no news which of the new cast members will pilot each of the huge robots, but lead star John Boyega may be commandeering the Gipsy Danger. The actor posted a concept art of the Jaeger on his Instagram page.

Boyega will portray Jake Pentecost, whose father is the late Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) of the original film. Scott Eastwood also stars as Lambert, with Charlie Day and Burn Gorman reprising their roles as the quirky scientist duo, Newt and Gottlieb, respectively.

Rinko Kikuchi is expected to return as Mako Mori, though Charlie Hunnam already confirmed that he won't reprise his Raleigh Beckett role. Other cast members in the sequel include Karl Urban and Cailee Spaeny.

In a recent interview, Day said that new young group of people in the sequel is going to be interesting to watch. He added that his character and Gorman's will serve as the tether to the world established in the first film. The actor also said that Newt "looks good" in the upcoming movie with his "new clothes," ComicBook.com reported.
