Ford unveiled its new 2018 Ford Expedition Tuesday. This is the latest version of the carmaker's SUV with more interior space and technological features. According to reports, this new version of the SUV is a complete redo to its older model, which was first launched some 15 years ago.

What's Under the Hood and Other Components?

According to Ford, the new 2018 Expedition have the most driver-assist technology compared to any other SUV in its size range. Some of the technologies it features include the enhanced active park assist, the 360-degree camera, the lane-keeping aid stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, blind spot information system, and collision avoidance technology, Car Scoops reported.

Other technologies it features are wireless charging, SYNC 3, SYNC Connect, Panoramic Vista Roof, 12-B&O speakers, 12-volt power points for every passenger, advance cargo manager, 110-volt power outlet, and six USB chargers. With the use of the latest high-strength aluminium-allow body and revamped steel frame, the 2018 Expedition is 300 lbs lighter compared to its predecessors.

The impressive SUV also features a Terrain Management System that allows the drivers to use it for normal town driving, Sports setting, towing & hauling use, fuel efficiency setting, slippery terrain performance, mud setting, and low traction for sand drive capabilities.

Up to eight people can fit in the new 2018 Expedition with its efficient seat rearrangement designs. By folding the second and third rows of seat with a push of a button, users can fit in 4x8-foot plywood in the back.

Why Ford Is Betting On It

More customers choose to buy the car-based SUV crossovers and the only brands left providing the big SUVs are GM, Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. These car makers have 75% of the market for big SUVs in the US, with GM selling 270,000 in the country in 2016, The Motley Fool reported. This is one of the major reasons, why Ford is bringing its big-bodied 2018 Expedition back to the market.
