Consumers can get overwhelmed and confused when choosing between the numerous smartphones vying for their attention and hard-earned cash. The HTC U Ultra and Google Pixel XL are some of the mobile devices out in the market. Which comes out on top between these two handsets?

The HTC U Ultra boasts of a large 5.7-inch screen, while the Google Pixel XL comes in smaller at 5.5 inches. Both devices have a 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution.

When it comes to the design, however, HTC's smartphone is more eye-catching. The Google Pixel XL doesn't exactly stand out in its split matte-metal-and-glass design, according to Stuff. It's rather dull, but the HTC U Ultra managed to appear striking in how it ditched the all-metal body of its predecessors and appeared in an all-glass build.

As for the camera, the Google Pixel XL is equipped with a notable 12.3MP primary camera with substantial, 1.55μm pixels and fast f/2.0 aperture lens. Its secondary camera for taking selfies is at 8 MP.

The HTC U Ultra, on the other hand, has a 12 MP main camera. That comes close to Pixel XL's, but Google's smartphone performs more spectacularly in daylight, especially when the HDR+ is enabled. Low-light performance isn't so bad either and even though the Pixel XL has no optical stabilization, its phase detect and laser autofocus features are capable of producing in-focus photographs, Stuff noted.

Regardless, HTC's handset is also capable of producing images with solid exposure and color. Its camera app also comes with nice fine-tuning options to improve photo quality.

Both the HTC U Ultra and Google Pixel XL are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM. HTC's device runs using Android 7.0 OS with HTC Sense Companion, while the Google phone has Android 7.1 Nougat, GSM Arena noted.

The HTC U Ultra carries a 3000mAh battery and a 64GB standard storage capacity alongside a 128GB variant. The Google Pixel XL offers a smaller memory option with a 32GB model, though it also has a 128GB variant. Google's handset is equipped with a 3450mAh battery, which, according to Stuff, "doesn't deliver mind-blowing stamina" probably due to the demands of its screen display.
