BioWare has finally revealed to the world the reason for the cancellation of the "Dragon Age 2" expansion pack, BioWare's creative director Mike Laidlaw made the explanation. BioWare has reportedly canceled the expansion pack entitled "The Exalted March" when the gaming studio moved onto developing the sequel "Dragon Age: Inquisition."

For a starter, "Dragon Age 2" is an action role-playing video game developed by BioWare for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Apple Mac OS X. It is the second installment in the "Dragon Age" series, which was first released in March 2011.

The game is set in the same world introduced in the previous build Dragon Age: Origins, where the player assumes the role of Hawke, who arrives in Kirkwall as a lowly refugee, but later becomes a legendary champion.

BioWare Canceled The Expansion
On March 19, 2012, BioWare made the confirmation that the "Dragon Age" expansion pack "The Exalted March" has entered the development stage, but later canceled due to some technical issues.

BioWare has stopped all post-release development work on Dragon Age 2 and the entire "Dragon Age" team have been moved onto the next phase of "Dragon Age," Eurogamer reported. Laidlaw stands firm to his bold decision to cancel the DLC, saying that it was the right decision.

The upcoming "The Exalted March" would have been the third expansion for the "Dragon Age," following the previous expansions "Legacy" and "Mark of the Assassin."

BioWare Finally Revealed The Reason For The Expansion Cancellation
According to PC Gamer, Bioware's Mike Laidlaw has posted a series of tweets that note the game's "Hanged Man Tavern" as the DLC's proposed entry point. Laidlaw also stated in his tweet why it never came to life.

As reported by Xbox Achievements, the reason for the cancellation was not due to the negative feedback and reviews. BioWare admitted that the process of migrating onto the Frostbite engine was the main reason for the said cancellation. BioWare is said to experience some technical difficulties in the migration process.

Developed by EA DICE, the Frostbite engine empowers game developers, allowing them to build games for any size, genre, or platform. It's first used by EA DICE to create first-person shooters but later expanded to include various other genres.

In addition, Laidlaw also explains that the upcoming expansion would have had some 'interesting stories to tell' and that it might focus more on Sebastian's family.
