"Black Panther" has added another stellar talent into its roster in the person of Emmy Winner Sterling K. Brown of "People Vs. O.J. Simpson" fame. Brown will play a character not based from the Marvel comics, the source material from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving fans guessing if the additional cast is connected to the main protagonist.

"Black Panther" Cast

"Black Panther is set to start filming in early 2017 for a 2018 release. The confirmed cast includes Chadwick Boseman (T'Challa/Black Panther), Lupita Nyong'o (Nakia), Forest Whitaker (Zuri), Angela Bassett (Ramonda, T'Challa's mother), and Michel B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger).

Now, Marvel Studios just officially announced a new addition in Brown who will play N'Jobu, who is a character from T'Challa's past. The new character is based on the original screenplay by Joe Robert Cole, co-writing with Ryan Coogler of the "Creed" who will also be directing "Black Panther," Variety reported.

"Black Panther" will be Brown's first major film after forging a successful career in Television. The actor was previously seen as the adult Randall Pearson from "This is Us" garnering a Golden Globe nomination for the role. Brown also received an Emmy nod for his role as Christopher Darden in "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson."

"Black Panther" Storyline

"Black Panther" storyline occurs just after the events of "Captain America: Civil War" where Boseman's T'Challa, prince of the technologically-advanced Wakanda, was first introduced. Typical Marvel style, "Black Panther" storyline is kept in the dark, but cast member Nyong'o offered some important tidbits.

"Black Panther" will feature T'Challa's struggle to continue the legacy of his father after his murder and he will be facing two new enemies who have teamed up together. T'Challa as Black Panther will be aided by the C.I.A and the Dora Milaje to defeat this new enemy, according to SlashFilm.

After a successful debut in "Captain America: Civil War," Boseman will star in his own standalone film as part of the ever-expanding MCU. The "Black Panther" will be released on February 18, 2018.
