Moto X (2017) may not be an upgraded version of Moto X for the leaked renders and video suggest a different phone that has passed FCC regulations a few days ago under a codename "Cedric." Moreover, Motorola is reportedly set to launch a new mid-range phone possibly announced in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

The Moto X has not been heard of since 2015 while its siblings, the Moto G got an upgrade last year and the Moto Z was unveiled last summer, but only reaching US market by November 2016. This is why the newest leaked photos have been attributed to the Moto X (2017) model as the most likely phone that Motorola will unveil next.

Moto X (2017) Features

Android Authority and Steve Hemmerstoffer, popularly known as OnLeaks have collaborated together to give renders and a 360 degrees video of the newly leaked Motorola device. If the phone is indeed Moto X (2017) then it appears that the device has removed the Moto Mods due to the lack of pogo pins where these are attached, NDTV has learned.

Other notable features include a 5.2 inch display, dimensions of 150x73.8x8.4mm and a micro-SD card slot to expand memory. It also has a headphone jack and supports micro-USB in favor of the more modern USB Type-C, which is predicted to be the trend among the latest smartphones according to Pocket-Lint.

Unlike the Moto G4 Plus, the new Moto X (2017) appears to have a fingerprint scanner on a non-squarish home button or more aptly a touchpad, similar to the iterations found in Samsung and HTC devices. As to the camera, the new phone's hardware copies Moto Z's large round bump that houses the lens and flash, but it has made addition like the front-facing flash for the selfie camera.

Moto X (2017) Moto Mods

Techdroider has learned that the leaked photo may not be hinting at the Moto X (2017), but a new phone that has recently passed FCC regulations and carried the codename "Cedric." This report is supported by the fact that Motorola will not easily ditch the Moto Mods in the Moto X especially after partnering with Indiegogo to help fund ideas for Moto Mods applications.
