HTC Vive unit owners will have to set aside for a while their wishes of an upgraded second generation virtual reality headset since HTC debunked rumors of an HTC Vive 2 launching in CES, this month.  This was recently confirmed by the company stating that there is no truth with the rumor.

HTC stated that while rumors are untrue, they are laser focused on building out a strong and growing ecosystem for current and future Vive owners so they can experience the best room-scale VR with the most compelling content available. While it is considered a sad announcement for Vive owners but it could also be a hope for more things yet to come for HTC Vive.

While the Vive is one of the top VR headsets on the market, critics have noted its heavy cords can sometimes hinder game play,  iDigital Times reported.  Since there won't be an HTC Vive 2 launching this month, Vive owners are left wishing for a slimmer design and lighter cord, a better fit for the face and no hard-to-reach grip buttons of the purportedly upgraded version of the VR headset that never came to be.

HTC, however, eased Vive owners' dismay by giving $100 off the cost of the headset to those who have recently purchased the device while Microsoft gave $100 gift code for future purchases from the Microsoft store, PC Gamer has learned. The move is made to help take the sting out of being an early adopter.

Other sources claimed that this is anything but bad news for HTC fans since many of the original Vive owners might have felt betrayed if HTC released a new headset just a few months after HTC Vive went on sale, reports GS Marena.  It is worth noting that reviews of HTC Vive are remarkable, branding it as the best device when it comes to giving a virtual reality experience in the market today.

Its intuitive controls and software partnership with Valve is highly commended as well, Tech Radar reported. Even though tech bloggers and writers report that it is too expensive and the hardware is not that good yet, but the experience one gets on the HTC Vive is unrivaled.

Sources described that it is light years ahead of Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR, miles ahead of PlayStation VR and completely floors its main competitor, the Oculus Rift.   Albeit, HTC Vive 2 won't be seen this month at CES, positive reports and reviews about HTC Vive will somehow suffice owners' confidence of having a VR headset that is unrivaled and unsurpassed.
