Sketched images of Nokia's upcoming smartphones -- the Nokia D1 and Nokia E1 -- have leaked online. Read on below for more details.

You can check out the sketched images of the Nokia D1 (the first one) and Nokia E1 below. The images closely resemble each other, but there's one small part that sets them apart.

The Nokia D1 is equipped with a front-facing fingerprint scanner, while the Nokia E1 clearly doesn't have the same feature. Both devices have similar back and overview buttons that sit on both sides of the Home key, according to Android Headlines.

The Nokia E1's Home button, however, has a regular capacitive circle, while the Nokia D1's Home button is oval-shaped and also functions as a fingerprint scanner. It's still unknown if the latter's Home key can be pressed physically or not.

It's possible that Nokia's logo would be placed on both of the Nokia D1 and Nokia E1's upper right corners. The devices are expected to have 5- and 5.5-inch display models, though it remains to be seen whether or not these variants would actually push through come release date. The smartphones are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2017, maybe in January's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The company has big plans for their so-called "ultimate smartphone" - the Nokia Z2 Plus. The firm is confident enough to declare that the device would upstage Apple's iPhone 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 next year.

The Nokia Z2 Plus will reportedly run using a Snapdragon 820 chipset with 1.77GHz, 4GB of RAM, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as its operating system, Neurogadget reported. The flagship device will be equipped with a 23-megapixel primary camera with Carl Zeiss lenses.

Carl Zeiss is a German company that manufactures lenses used on SLR and rangefinder cameras, among others. Nokia already employed Carl Zeiss cameras in the Nokia PureView 808 and Lumia 1020. Test scores put the Nokia Z2 Plus' single-core at 2100, while the multi-core clocked in at 5100.

Aside from the iPhone 8 and Galaxy S8, the Nokia Z2 Plus will also be up against Google's Pixel phones. Those devices promise to have improved voice assistant tools, and it remains to be seen what the Nokia Z2 Plus has to offer in this particular arena.
