The Chinese consumer electronics firm, Meizu, officially added the newest member of the company's M series, called Meizu M5 Note, in China this December. The said smartphone has been compared to its predecessor, M3 Note, which is released earlier this year.

The upcoming Meizu M5 Note is dropped off as a high-end smartphone in addition to its H1 Band and Pro 6 Plus units. According to Asiastarz, the phone is about 0.1mm thinner than the M3 Note. Both the Meizu handsets sport a 1080p 5.5-inch display along with a Helio P10 chipset and a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-toned LED flash.

Under the hood, the phone runs a 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, supported by a Mali T860 GPU from ARM to provide a smooth workflow experience on users, and carries either 3GB or 4GB RAM.

Housed in an all-metal unibody, the M5 Note also features a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display, a 5-megapixel front camera. One of the significant features on the phone's display is its home button. The button functions as a fingerprint sensor and as a back button, at the same time by just tapping it.

Alongside the improved home button, users can also swipe up from either side of the home button to switch between apps. The said button is reportedly claimed to unlock the phone within 0.2 seconds, according to Meizu.

As per its internal chassis, the M5 Note runs the newly released Flyme 6.0, Meizu's own brand of Android based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Digital Trends reported that the upgraded OS firmware brings 400 new features, along with the "One Mind" feature, an artificial intelligence system that changes the phone's performance to allow faster access to the user's most frequently used apps.

The Meizu M5 Note's battery capacity covers a smaller charge of 4000 mAh instead of 4100mAH battery housed in the Meizu M3 Note. However, the smartphone comes with a mCharge fast charging support that loads M5 Note within 90 minutes.

In addition, the M5 Note is available for around $130 for the base configuration (3GB RAM/16GB), and goes up to $217 for the 4GB/64GB version. It is available in 4 color options, namely Grey, Silver, Champagne Gold and Blue.
