The first "Transformers: The Last Knight" trailer was dropped showing humans pitted against sentient machines including Optimus Prime out to exterminate us all like vermins.

The trailer is narrated by Sir Anthony Hopkins, fresh from his stint from "Westworld," citing two species and two worlds at war with only one said will survive, according to The Verge. "Transformers: The Last Knight"seems to suggest that the plot will take off with a reference to the time of King Arthur, which is a much earlier timeframe compared to "Transformers: Age of Extinction" that took off from the time of the dinosaurs.

The good thing about the trailer is that Optimus Prime is back on Earth. The bad news, however, is that he might have had a screw loose upon re-entry and his logic circuits might be scrambled in the process turning him into a rogue in "Transformers: The Last Knight."

We can only speculate on rumors that since Hot Rod will be introduced in "Transformers: The Last Knight," there should be a take off point where he will take command of the Autobots. In the animated series, Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime taking over where Optimus left off. This might be the last we see Optimus Prime on the screen, which incidentally is also the last Transformers movie Michael bay will direct for the franchise.

The fifth installment "Transformers: The Last Knight," like the others, ties the Transformers to a particular spot in world history, in this instance, the myth of King Arthur. This is where rumors sprout a tie-in to the myth that Excalibur might be an ancient Transformers weapon. According to ScreenRant, if the Transformers are somewhat responsible for aiding humans in building the pyramids, what is to say they were not responsible for influencing other civilizations millennia ago?

Mark Wahlberg returns, as Cade Yaeger sans his daughter Tessa played by Nicola Peltz in the previous film. An explanation of her absence in "Transformers: The Last Knight" will be given according to Wahlberg, but we expect nothing more than an exposition or two if we are lucky.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" is set for release on June 23, 2017.
