The viral mobile hit "Pokemon GO" is about to receive a massive update this month. Developer Niantic Labs is reportedly planning a huge "Pokémon Go" update this December to keep the hype around the viral augmented reality mobile game.

According to VentureBeat, the update will include more than 100 new normal and Legendary Pokemon from Gen 2 Gold/Silver Pokemon, player-versus-player battles, trading between players and raising critters. Report said that legendary character such as Mewtwo, Mew and Lugia will also be added to the mobile game. If done, this could set Pokemon Go for a strong comeback during the critical Christmas holiday season. Though it is not yet confirmed by Niantic.

According to CrunchyRoll, the massive December update will also come with a Pokemon Tracker, a new trading system that also functions as a notification system that brings in the regular news about players and Pokemon-related events. However, there are some reports that some users have already received the update before its actual release. A recent Reddit post showed a screenshot of a notification about a double XP and Stardust event that happened from Nov. 23 to Nov. 30. Niantic is reportedly working and testing the latest update before its actual launch this month.

Niantic has not made any further comment about the update news, but Niantic CEO John Hank, has boldly claimed that all of those features along with the real world Pokemon events are coming to the game.

VentureBeat also suggesting that the generation two update will likely come next month. VentureBeat has based its reports on an analysis of the mobile game's code, and although this is the extent of their entire Pokemon report, information in the game's code has revealed some good idea about the upcoming update.

The augmented reality game "Pokemon Go" has already been the most successful mobile game in tech history, generating an estimated $600 million in revenues in its first 90 days only.

However, the activity and the hype around the game have died down, and many Pokemon players have stopped playing. That's because players wanted more updates and new features on board. As a response to this, developers are continuously working and updating the game to keep its players interested.

The rumored December update could make a profound impact on player engagement. If everything goes well and that a huge number of monsters are open for the players, then, that's a time where the game could be able to occupy the bulk of players' attention for a longer period of time. It's also the sign where "Pokemon Go" has made a strong comeback.
