To hit its goal of supporting wireless charging, Apple ditches metal casing and plans to go all glass with all its iPhone line up in 2018.

Pegatron will be Apple exclusive provider of wireless charger, Mac Rumors reported. This information came from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that having glass casing is integral if Apple will introduce wireless charging next year. Even though there are patented technology for wireless charging, wireless frequency tolerance is still a big issue. Some wireless charging devices has limited charging speed.

There has also been reports in the past that Jony Ive, Apple's chief design officer has been wanting to make iPhone look like a single sheet of glass. 

Wireless charger not included in bundle

There are reports, however, that Apple may opt not to include wireless chargers as a bundle with its iPhone models, 9 to 5 Mac reported. Wireless charging may only be available in bundle along with higher-capacity SKUs, which are more expensive. But fans should expect that Apple will be shifting all its iPhone models by 2018.

This shift is still in its planning stage, but users of low-end iPhone models who want to try the wireless charging feature will have to buy an additional device.

Three new models in 2017

KGI has also reported that Apple s expected to roll out three new iPhone models in 2017. Two of these models will be successors of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The other device will be a bezel-less device that has an OLED display in its edges. These models will all have glass casings, which only confirms the giant tech company's plan of moving into that technology.

The OLED display model will be 5.8-inches in size, while the other will have a 5.2-inch size.

Fans will have to wait for further reports on the issue of wireless charging.
