"Overwatch" is having some big changes this month after Blizzard Entertainment announced that it will cancel the Overwatch graphic novel, First Strike. The developer made the big announcement on the Overwatch blog post.

According to GameSpot, Blizzard Entertainment has made some big changes and has decided to take the story in a different direction.

"Overwatch" is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed and published by the US-based Blizzard Entertainment for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One consoles. The game is the company's fourth major franchise and features several means of gameplay, including a tutorial, casual matchmaking, weekly brawls, custom and competitive games, and practice modes against computer-controlled opponents.

"Overwatch," which came after the 2014 cancellation of the ambitious massively multiplayer online role-playing game Titan, is a first-person shooter that features squad-based combat with two opposing teams. Each of the players has their own unique abilities and role classes.

As explained in their blog post, Blizzard's Michael Chu teased that the company plans to tell the story of the early adventures of "Overwatch's" main characters, but has decided to change direction and wait for another day.

Revealed in July of this year, First Strike was supposed to come out sometime this month with Micky Neilson handling the script and Ludo Lullabi for the pen. The Overwatch graphic novel has been described as a "brand-new entry" in the young "Overwatch" franchise and will contain a hundred pages of story and sequential artwork telling fans about the story of the original Overwatch team.

Despite the graphic novel getting canned, Blizzard's Michael Chu is adamant that the company can still expand the story of "Overwatch" in other ways.

First revealed at BlizzCon 2014, the game has been in a closed beta from late 2015 through early 2016. Upon its official release on May 2016, Overwatch has received positive reviews from critics, which praised the game for its accessibility and gameplay.

Overwatch is currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One gaming consoles.
