People were expecting to see new Apple iMacs during the Oct. 26 Apple "Hello Again" event only to be disappointed. The event focused mainly on the introduction of a new line of MacBook laptops, which begs the question, when will the new iMacs be released?

The release of the upgraded Apple iMacs is long overdue but pundits extended their sights on a 2017 release date. Interestingly, 2017 is also iPhone's 10th anniversary year.

iMac 2017 Specs Rumors

The new Apple iMac is rumored to feature AMD's new Radeon Polaris graphics chips. This is not a far fetched rumor, considering one of the surprise features that no one expected was the inclusion of AMD Radeon Pro 400 in MacBook Pro's 15-inch variant. With a powerful GPU, pundits speculate that the new iMacs would be VR-ready.

The Apple iMac's last update was in 2015 when it gave the smaller iMacs with Retina displays and the Bigger models with the Skylake chips, according to AppleInsider.

Meanwhile, MacWorld reported that specs of the new Intel Kaby Lake processor have been spotted online. On Oct. 6, Best Buy listed a Kaby Lake iMac on its sale roster before promptly taking it down. The explanation was that it was a placeholder until the official sale is given a go, but slipped by setting it live too early.

The Rumor Rundown

Customers are expecting Kaby Lake in the new Apple although there might be a chance seeing AMD Zen in certain Apple iMac models. The option is not far-fetched seeing AMD Zen with its raw processing power a viable option for cheaper iMac models.

It is widely believed that the new Apple iMacs will come equipped with graphics chips using AMD's Polaris chipset Polaris 10 (Ellesmere) and Polaris 11 (Baffin), which were announced earlier this year. AMD has consistently boasted that the new line of GPU's will bring VR within reach of a wide market of users.

Furthermore, the new Apple iMac is sais to  feature full Flash Storage. It can be remembered that previous iterations used a Fusion Drive for its 27-inch models while offering it as build-to-order for the 21.5-inch models. The 27-inch Apple iMac will flaunt a 5K display with an Intel 10-core Xeon E7 and the latest AMD FirePro W9100.

We just have to see if the final product would have all these once it is released assumingly January 2017.
