In a bizarre and tremendously sweet turn of events, a college student received 6,500 bars of Kit Kat after tweeting that a thief opened his car - and stole nothing but a Kit Kat.

Hunter Jobbins, a 19-year-old freshman at Kansas State University, had just returned from a 15-minute run in his Haymaker Hall dorm to find that a thief broke into his car to steal a Kit Kat bar last October 31, reports TIME. The sweet-toothed thief oddly left a note, explaining what he did and why he did the thievery.

"Saw Kit Kat in your cup holder," the unknown thief wrote. "I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit-Kat. I am sorry and hungry."

Jobbins had a mixture of reactions, reports the Topeka Capital Journal. He initially felt disgusted at the incident, but later had a laugh about it.

"I was a little angry at first that someone took my KitKat," Jobbins said. "Then I read the note and figured it was too funny to be mad about."

Jobbins took to Twitter to share his sad loss. Without expecting anything, his post became viral and reached half a million likes, even reaching nothing less than Kit Kat company Hershey's itself. In response, Hershey's told Jobbins that they will replace the Kit Kat that he lost if he would send them a DM, which he did.

"When we heard about what happened to Hunter, we felt his pain," Shilpa Gadhok, Kit Kat senior associate brand manager, explained. "That being said, we also deeply appreciate the 'Kit-Napper's' sincerity in owning up to his craving-we can empathize... sometimes you just need a break."
